An important piece of my academic journey has been the time I spend connecting with the natural world around me. After all, physical intuition is informed by the world we are embedded in, and what better way to build physical intuition than to cling to some rock every now and then? Not only does it ground me in the physical reality which theorists so often forget underlies their equations, it also keeps the fickle nature of this life and the ever-present fight against death at the fore of my mind. Plus, mental well-being is intimately tied to physical well-being.
Rock climbing has taken me on many journeys over the past few years, from the lowly storm drains of central Ohio to the majestic boulder fields in the Swiss Alps.
