Lorenz Attractor

The Lorenz equations were first constructed as a simple model of atmospheric convection, but became popular for the notion of Sensitivity to Initial Conditions, referred to in popular culture as the "butterfly effect". The strange attractor constructed from certain values of the parameters is a common symbol in Chaos Theory and beyond.
